Monday 8 am-1 pm; Tuesday-Friday 8 am-2 pm
(Summer hours) Monday- Thursday 8 am - 2:45 pm
Basic Skills Requirement
Comprehensive Adult Student Assessment System (CASAS) score of 239 in Reading, and 236 in Math are required prior to graduation (some exemptions apply).
Exemptions from the Basic Skills test are as follows:
- Graduate of a Florida Public High School from 2007-present with a standard High School Diploma
- Florida based GED 2014-present
- College degree from an accredited institution
- (Official transcripts are needed to verify exemption)
2025-2026 Curriculum Frameworks
The Computer Systems and Information Technology program prepares students for employment as entry-level Computer Technicians. Students prepare to take CompTIA certification exams. CompTIA A+ Certification is the starting point for a career in I.T.
Certifications
CompTIA Recommendations for Exam Candidates
- A+ certification exam candidates should have “9-12 months’ hands-on experience in the lab or field.” The A+ course is 300 hours (about 3-4 months).
- Network+ exam candidates should have “CompTIA A+ Certification and at least 9-12 months of networking experience.” The Network+ course is 300 hours (about 3-4 months).
- Security+ exam candidates should have “CompTIA Network+ and two years of experience in IT administration with a security focus.” The Security+ course is 300 hours (about 3-4 months).

Employment/Career Opportunities
This program prepares students for employment at the entry level as Computer Technicians, Network Technicians, and Network Administrators. A history of felony convictions or substance abuse may adversely affect your ability to gain employment in this field.
Salaries
Salaries for entry-level positions range from $16.46 - $27.12 per hour in the Tampa Bay area.
